Coach (Bumble Bee) Willi Briscoeray has been participating and coaching in boxing for 60 years. Now seventy years old, Bumblebee was once one of the top amateur and professional featherweights in the United States, training under the legendary Eddie Futch ( see wikipedia) in South Central L.A. back in the 60's. BumbleBee coached his grandson, David Jackson, who represented the United States at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
I recently met Coach Bumble Bee at an awards banquet for youth mentors. He is such a humble Man and doing so much for others, You wouldn't know how God has literally lifted Him unless you happen to ask him. You can still find Coach at the gym thanks to God and love and support of Seattle Union Gospel Mission. They not only have stood by Willi Briscoeray, They were waiting for him when he came after he was injured and paralyzed. Look at God
Today his efforts are more directed to whats reflected in Bumble Bee Boxing Motto " Making Champions in Life" He not only encourages self confidence in these youth but also discipline and ethics. Making a difference by telling the young folk to go to school, save, invest...
Every Year Bumble Bee Boxing has been sending youth to the World Amateur Boxing Tournament as well as the Christian Boxing Tournament. Coach Bumble Bee says it gives them a chance to see something different, that there is more in life, and that they are indeed champions.
In the upcoming future I will be asking for donations to support Bumble Bee this year. God says to be helpers of one another, and it could be your child thats gets blessed by this.
